Icaria – Plaster Cast

This is the first in my new collection of cast reproductions of my steel sculptures. It is a plaster cast of Icaria. The material for the casts is still in the experimental stage, so expect to see more casts in other materials. Fiberglass and concrete are coming soon.

The steel sculptures remain as my primary focus, but the process of hammering each steel sculptures out by hand limits the number of steel sculptures that I can produce (one steel sculpture can take from 40-80 hours of hammering). My new collection of cast sculptures is a way of sharing my sculptures with more people.

How It’s Made Video

Below is a short video as I sculpted Leto. You will see the entire sculpting process from start to finish. For this sculpture, the overall process took approximately 15 hours (sped up to short 5 minute sequence for your convenience).

Original music is by Landon Whitton.
